METHOD FOR EXTRACTING HEXAVALENT CHROMIUM

A method for the extraction of hexavalent chromium, by which hexavalent chromium is extracted from a polymer material with a high recovery, is provided. The method for extracting hexavalent chromium includes preparing a liquid sample by adding a fatty acid to a polymer material, adding water or an aqueous alkali solution to this sample, and dissolving hexavalent chromium contained in the sample in the water or the aqueous alkali solution. The fatty acid preferably has a carbon number of 11 or greater. The concentration of the aqueous alkali solution is preferably equal to or higher than 0.1 mol/L and equal to or lower than 1.0 mol/L.
