Proposed is an apparatus (1) for producing fancy yarns in the course of texturing of yarn by producing slubs through brief yarn overfeeding, comprising a motor-driven dog (4) which is moveable linearly away from the thread course (35) and which has a thread guide (9) to produce a yarn underfeed by gripping one thread (2) of the yarn with the thread guide (9) and laterally deflecting the yarn from its thread course (35). Trigger means (10) are provided to release the thread (2) from the thread guide (9) at a deflection point positioned laterally from the course (35) of the thread (2) in order that the yarn overfeed may be produced by abrupt ending of the deflection of the yarn.
