PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that prevents the deterioration of the surface of a photoreceptor due to nitrate ions to improve transferability, and thereby performing printing with high image quality.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus according to the present invention includes a photoreceptor on the surface of which a toner image is formed, and transfer means that is in pressure contact with the photoreceptor to form a nip area, and flows a predetermined transfer current to a sheet, which passes through the nip area at a predetermined process speed, to transfer the toner image from the photoreceptor to the sheet. The image forming apparatus further includes transfer control means for changing the transfer current and process speed according to the sheet width of the sheet accounting for the longitudinal direction of the nip area. |
