<p>The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method and apparatus for online signature verification using a proximity touch function. According to an embodiment of the present invention, a method for verifying a signature from a user comprises the steps of: generating signature data based on at least one direct touch event and at least one proximity touch event that occur on a touch input unit of a device; extracting features of the input signature based on the generated signature data; and determining whether to authenticate the input signature based on a degree of matching between the features of the input signature and features of a stored reference signature.</p>
