An aspect of the present invention is to provide a rechargeable battery which charges a cap plate and a case with a positive electrode, charges a safety member with a negative electrode, and sets a resistance value between the negative electrode and the safety member of an electrode assembly and a current value due to it. A rechargeable battery according to an embodiment of the present invention includes an electrode assembly which has a negative electrode and a positive electrode at both sides of a separator, a case which includes the electrode assembly, a cap plate combined with the opening of the case, an anode terminal and a cathode terminal which are respectively connected to the positive electrode and the negative electrode and penetrates the terminal hole of the cap plate, a safety member arranged between the electrode assembly and the case, and a first resistance member which connects the safety member and the negative electrode. |
