Described is the use of L-tryptophan for treating a subject with parasomnia and associated methods of treating a subject with parasomnia. Optionally, the subject may be a child or adolescent between about 3 years of age and 18 years of age. The methods and uses described herein are useful for treating parasomnia in a subject exhibiting sleep walking, sleeptalking, confusional arousals, nightmares, night terrors, rhythmic movement disorder, sleep related eating disorder and/or bruxism. Optionally, subjects are treated with a dose L-tryptophan of about between 700mg and 5 g per day. |
