The present invention improves the utility of a machining system disposed so that work machines including a machining apparatus such as a lathe are arranged in one line and configured so that a plurality of work machines carry out successive tasks on one workpiece. A machining system provided with a base (10) and a plurality of work machine modules (12) disposed on the base and arranged in an arranging direction is configured so that each of the plurality of work machine modules can be pulled out from the base along a trajectory that extends in a direction orthogonal to the arranging direction. According to this machining system, maintenance of the plurality of modules can be carried out easily because the modules are aligned so as to be capable of being pulled out. The number of bases provided in the system can be reduced because the plurality of modules are arrayed on a single base.
