The present invention relates to a server connected, via a network, to a terminal which transceives data with a smart chip, and provides a server for authenticating a smart chip comprising: a server transceiving unit for receiving, from the terminal, a card identifier which identifies a user; and an authentication unit for generating an authentication key from the card identifier, and for authenticating the smart chip on the basis of the authentication key, wherein the terminal generates an encrypted text based on the card identifier, the smart chip receives the encrypted text and generates a decrypted text on the basis of a private key, and wherein the card identifier is a public key corresponding to the private key. Accordingly, the present invention has the advantages of increasing the safety of a transaction by confirming whether a user has a medium in possession during online and offline transactions. |
