The present invention relates to a substrate which comprises oligogalacturonides. More particularly, the present invention provides a disposable absorbent article which comprises the substrate having the oligogalacturonides. The present invention also provides a process for manufacturing a disposable absorbent article comprising the substrate.

A substrate selected from the group consisting of a nonwoven web, a film, a tissue, a pulp and a superabsorbent polymer wherein at least a portion of the substrate comprises oligogalacturonides, the oligogalacturonides comprising a linear or branched chain of monomeric galacturonic acid units, wherein said monomeric galacturonic acid units are covalently bound to each other by an α(1→4)-glycosidic linkage, wherein the overall monomeric galacturonic acid unit number is from about 2 to no more than about 20.
