<p>The present invention makes a special lens system or optical system configuration for aberration correction, distortion correction, or the like unnecessary when making interpupillary distance adjustments for individuals or making various adjustments for matching convergence distance or visual range in a binocular type head mounted display (HMD). Swinging mirrors (6, 7) make beam light from a light source (10) deviate two-dimensionally by means of reflective mirrors. Eyepiece optical systems (15 - 17) separate the beam light coming from the swinging mirrors, and guide the beam light to the left and right eyes (18), respectively. A mirror drive unit (5) makes the swing angles of the swinging mirrors different for right and left eye image signals according to the difference in light path length arising because of the interpupillary distance (?d) in the eyepiece optical systems, or an image processing unit (8) makes the length of the display period for the right and left eye image signals different according to the difference in light path length arising because of the interpupillary distance (?d).</p> |
