发明名称 Managing operational parameters for electronic resources
摘要 Customers of shared resources in a multi-tenant environment can modify operational parameters of electronic resources. A customer can be provisioned a data volume of a specified size, storage type (e.g., hard disk drive or solid state device), committed rate of input/output operations per second, and/or geographical location, for example. The customer can subsequently modify any such operational parameters by submitting an appropriate request, or the operational parameters can be adjusted automatically based on any of a number of criteria. Data volumes for the customer can be migrated, split, or combined in order to provide the shared resources in accordance with the modified operational parameters.

主权项 1. A computer-implemented method of managing shared resources, comprising: under control of one or more computer systems configured with executable instructions, receiving a request from a user to resize an active volume of block data storage to a new size, the request being received as a Web service request to at least one application programming interface (API), the active volume corresponding to at least an original primary volume copy and an original mirror volume copy, the original primary volume copy and the original mirror volume copy located on separate servers;determining at least one first server capable of providing a new volume copy of block data storage for the user in response to the request, the at least one server having first data storage capacity of at least the new size and one or more processing resources and one or more networking resources available to provide at least a specified rate of input/output (I/O) operations per second (IOPS);allocating at least a portion of the first data storage capacity corresponding to the new size, at least a portion of the one or more processing resources, and at least a portion of the one or more networking resources of the at least one first server to provision the new volume copy to operate according to the specified rate of IOPS;migrating data from the original mirror volume copy to the new volume copy, the active volume remaining capable of receiving and responding to I/O requests while the data is migrated from the original mirror volume copy to the new volume copy;mapping the original primary volume copy to be a new mirror volume copy of the active volume; and mapping the new volume copy to be a new primary volume copy of the active volume.
