A mixing valve comprises a body 10 having two inlet passageways, one of which is shown at 14, an outlet duct 22 and a valve face 12, a valving member 26 positioned next to the face for movement thereabout and having two end inlet ports, one of which is shown at 28 and a centre inlet port 32, the inlet ports being in continuous fluid flow relationship with the outlet duct, and a slot 52 and stop 58 limiting movement of the valving member so that one end inlet port may be brought into communication with one inlet only, the second end inlet port may be brought into communication with the second inlet only, and the centre inlet port may be brought into communication with either inlet. When a handle 54 is displaced upwardly or downwardly to cause the spindle 53 and stop 58 to traverse the slot 52 the end ports are moved into and out of register with the inlet passageways to vary the total flow through the valve while rotation of the handle causes the ratio of flow from the two inlet passageways to be varied. When flow is required from only one of the inlet passageways the centre inlet of the valving member is brought into communication with it. Each inlet passageway is provided with a spring-loaded plastic seat 60 and the valving member is enclosed by a plastic seal 44 held in place by a threaded cap 38 and an adjustment ring 48. The cap 38 also secures an escutcheon 40 to the valve body and a nylon ring 42, keyed against rotation, is interposed between it and the seal 44. The stop 58 is of pear-shaped cross-section to limit rotation of the spindle 53. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 996,454.</p> |
