PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric brake device which can prevent not only generation of operation sound but also a response lag of a brake.SOLUTION: An electric brake device comprises a brake rotor, a brake pad, an electric motor 2, a linear movement mechanism, and a control unit 9. The control unit 9 includes: a motor angular speed controller 40 to control an angular speed of the motor 2; and motor angular speed restriction means 41 to restrict an angular speed ωof the electric motor 2 in an unloaded condition controlled by the motor angular speed controller 40 during transition from a non-braking condition to a braking condition, and an angular speed ωof the electric motor 2 in unloaded condition controlled by the motor angular speed controller 40 during transition from the braking condition to the non-braking condition to be |ω|>|ω| using the motor angular speed controller 40. |
