<p>The invention relates to a lighting apparatus (10) for illumination purposes, and to improvements in or relating thereto. The lighting apparatus (10) comprising a waveguide (18) and a lighting device (28) at an end of the waveguide (18). The waveguide (18) is capable of sustaining total internal reflectance and has a reflector (26) at or near a surface thereof to reflect light from the waveguide (18). The lighting device (28) has at least one Light Emitting Diode (LED) (15) to emit light into the end (39) of the waveguide (18), wherein a gap (38) is provided between the at least one LED (15) and the end (39) of the waveguide (18).</p> |
