The present invention relates to a cryoprotective exopolysaccharide derived from Pseudoalteromonas tetraodonis, and to a cryoprotective composition containing the same. According to the present invention, the exopolysaccharide and the cryoprotective composition show excellent cell conservative force at low temperature, minimze damage of tissue, and are useful for protecting or preserving biological samples including cells and tissue in refrigeration and frozen conditions.
