PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for a tire which is excellent in grip performance and blowout resistance when formed into a tire.SOLUTION: There are provided a rubber composition for a tire which comprises: 100 pts.mass of a diene-based rubber A; 60 to 150 pts.mass of carbon black; and 1 to 30 pts.mass of a liquid, modified polyisoprene and/or modified polybutadiene having a number average molecular weight of 800 to 60000, with both terminals of which are modified with an isocyanate group. In the rubber composition, a part or the whole of the diene-based rubber A is a diene-based rubber a having an active hydrogen group reactive with the isocyanate group, and the amount of the diene-based rubber a is 5 to 100 mass% of the amount of the diene-based rubber A. There is also provided a pneumatic tire using the rubber composition for a tire.
