PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon nanotube sponge-like structure and a method for producing the same.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing a carbon nanotube sponge-like structure, the method comprising: a first step of supplying a carbon nanotube sponge-like structure in which the carbon nanotube sponge-like structure includes a plurality of carbon nanotubes and the plurality of carbon nanotubes are joined end-to-end to each other by intermolecular force to form a self-supporting structure; a second step of supplying an oxidizing solution composed of an oxidant and hydrogen peroxide; a third step of immersing the carbon nanotube sponge-like structure in the oxidizing solution to form a preliminary body; and a fourth step of freezing and drying the preliminary body in a vacuum.
