PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suitably attain frame narrowing.SOLUTION: An optical member holding structure LH includes: an optical member; a chassis 15 which has a plate-like part 15a along a plate plane of the optical member; a frame 13 which has a holding part 23a holding an outer peripheral end of the optical member with the plate-like part 15a, and a frame body 23 having an opening part 23d into which the optical member and the chassis 15 can be inserted and a reception part 23b opposed to the plate-like part 15a while leaving a gap C on the opposite side from the optical member; a back cabinet 14 fitted to be disposed to the reception part 23b on the opposite side from the plate-like part 15a; and a first shaft member 27 which is disposed to be interposed between the back cabinet 14 and plate-like part 15a, and holds the gap C formed between the reception part 23b and plate-like part 15a.
