<p>A method of providing an assembled device for use in performing a form of minimally invasive surgery, in a body cavity within a living body, where the body cavity is separated 5 from a space outside of the body by a body wall, the method comprising: providing a device comprising a first part and a second part, the first part having a maximum external transverse dimension greater than 3 mm, the second part having a maximum external transverse dimension of between 0.1 mm and 3 mm; making a first opening in the body wall having a maximum transverse dimension greater than 3 mm that permits introduction 10 of the first part of the device from the space outside of the body through said first opening and into the body cavity; introducing the second part of the device from the space outside of the body into the body cavity through a second opening made in the body wall, the second opening having a maximum transverse dimension between 0.1 mm and 3 mm and permitting introduction of the second part of the device from the space outside of the body 15 through the second opening and into the body cavity; passing the second part of the device from inside of the body cavity through the first opening into the space outside of the body; coupling the first part of the first device to the second part of the first device in the space outside of the body to make an assembled first device; and passing the first part of the first device coupled to the second part of the first device back into the body cavity through the 20 first opening.
