<p>A phone call is initialized at a mobile device (18) by an application, which causes the mobile phone to build a data packet (26) containing a caller identifier and the phone number to be called selected by the user. The application transmits the data packet via a packet-oriented mobile data service to a control server (14), which enters the information contained in the data packet into a link database (22). The application further initializes a phone call to a gateway server (12) using the gateway server's phone number. The gateway server sees the caller ID of the incoming phone call and uses it to look up the corresponding phone number to be called in the link database, which it has access to. The gateway server then forwards the incoming phone call to the phone number to be called.</p> |
