A lamp holder 10 comprises means for preventing accidental fitting of an electrically non-compatible lamp. The lamp holder 10 has a body with a socket for receiving a complementary lamp base 32 of a lamp 30. A pillar 22 is arranged to prevent any base 32 not having a complementary recess 36, for receiving the said pillar 22, from fitting into the lamp holder 10. The pillar 22 may have a rectangular, square or circular cross section and it may extend from an upright flange member of the holder 10. The lamp holder 10 may be used for a LED lamp whilst preventing the fitting of a compact fluorescent lamp. The holder 10 and lamp base 32 may be similar to those of a GR10q fitting. |
