Bolt with an external thread and a cylindrical shank made of an allogenic, cortical bone material for surgical osteosynthesis, Haversian canals (6) extending through the bone material. According to the invention, the total area of the Haversian canals (6) takes up not more than 10% of the total cross-sectional area in a cross-section perpendicular to the longitudinal axis (L) of the bolt shank. The invention allows bone screws (1) made of an allogenic, cortical bone material to be designed such that minimum values for their flexural strength, shear stability and breaking torque can be ensured. The criterion based on the area ratio of the Haversian canals (6) to the total cross-sectional area of the bone screw (1) is not only a surprisingly simple but very effective measure to control the strength of the bone screw (1). The invention also relates to a method for producing a bone screw (1) according to the invention. |
