The method and apparatus of the Parent Specification, wherein a textile material T is passed upwardly and alternately over a series of horizontally pivoted rollers arranged in two vertically staggered columns 6 and 8 and wherein a washing liquid is applied to the rollers via pipes 11, 12, the washing liquid being carried by friction into the nip between the material and the roller, to be squeezed through the material and subsequently hurled off by centrifugal force, is modified in that wiping means 10 are provided which resiliently and adjustably contact each roller at a predetermined point and which serve to remove the film of washing liquid adhering to the material on the roller. The apparatus also includes liquid recapturing means 13 for control of liquid flow. As shown, the wipers 10 constitute rollers, but doctor blades may be used (Fig. 2). The means 13 constitute pivotable plates controlled by a common shaft 15. Liquid may thus either be collected from the wipers and returned to the roller system (solid line position) or may be deflected away from the rollers (dotted line position). |
