<p>The present invention relates to a device for breaking a siphon effect, which can be applied to a research reactor having core down flow and low cavity water level characteristics, and a method for controlling a nuclear reactor using the same. The device for breaking a siphon effect comprises: a first pipe connected between a core inlet primary system pipe and a reactor cavity; and a second pipe connected between a core outlet primary system pipe and the reactor cavity, wherein the first pipe and the second pipe are installed under cavity water through the reactor cavity, thereby breaking siphon by preventing an outflow from a siphon pipe into the cavity water during normal operation and enabling an air inflow through a valve in an LOCA accident while preventing destruction of a high temperature layer due to disturbance of the cavity water on the top of the cavity.</p> |
