A battery energy storage device according to an embodiment of the invention comprises: a power unit cost collecting unit which collects power unit cost information from a power distribution system; a charged amount monitoring unit which collects charged power amount information on a condenser; a discharged amount monitoring unit which collects discharged amounts of power discharged from the charged power of the condenser; and a charging/discharging determining unit which sets a schedule for charging or discharging the power to or from the condenser based on the power unit cost collected by the power unit cost collecting unit. The present invention provides the batter energy storage device, which enables setting of a charging/discharging schedule for a battery energy storage device based on the power unit cost, and an operating method of the battery energy storage device. |
