<p>The invention relates to a method for operating a sheet-fed printing machine having several printing mechanisms, wherein each printing mechanism comprises an impression cylinder, a transfer cylinder rolling on the impression cylinder, a plate cylinder rolling on the transfer cylinder, an inking unit, and preferably a dampening unit, and having at least one main drive, wherein when the sheet-fed printing machine is operated in continuous printing operation, the impression cylinder, the transfer cylinder, and the plate cylinder of each of the printing mechanisms are driven by the or each main drive in such a way that the or each main drive drives a drive gear associated with the impression cylinder of each printing mechanism through a corresponding main drive shaft, the transfer cylinder of each printing mechanism is driven by the impression cylinder of the respective printing mechanism through a drive gear associated with the transfer cylinder, and the plate cylinder of each printing mechanism is driven by the transfer cylinder of the respective printing mechanism through a drive gear associated with the plate cylinder. According to the invention, when a printing plate change is performed on the plate cylinder of a printing mechanism and at the same time a washing process is performed on the transfer cylinder of the same printing mechanism, the plate cylinder is driven through the respective main drive for the printing plate change, whereas for the washing process, the transfer cylinder is driven decoupled from the respective main drive through a coupling associated with the drive gear of the transfer cylinder and through an auxiliary drive associated with the transfer cylinder.</p> |
