<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric double layer capacitor capable of eliminating volume expansion of the electric double layer capacitor by suppressing reaction between oxygen functional group and organic solvent on the surface of polarizable electrode of the electric double layer capacitor, resulting in suppressed dropping of electrostatic capacitance with excellent long-term reliability. <P>SOLUTION: A third electrode 8 is provided in nonaqueous electrolyte, and all positive electrodes 2 and negative electrodes 3 contained in an electrode element 5 are shortened. A power source 9 is arranged between the shorted positive electrode 2 and negative electrode 3 and the third electrode 8, for applying a voltage. The nonaqueous electrolyte contains at least one kind of electrolyte selected from the group of quaternary ammonium salt or lithium salt, and vinylene carbonate of 5 wt.% or less otherwise its derivative. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
