An attachment is mountable on a carriage in place of a liquid container that contains liquid and that is mounted on the carriage having a liquid jet head for jetting liquid, so that the attachment can supply liquid introduced from outside to the liquid jet head. The attachment has a pressure control means provided in a flow passage which is formed in an attachment body and through which the liquid introduced from the outside is supplied to the liquid jet head.

1. An ink supply system for supplying ink to a printing portion of a printing apparatus, the ink supply system comprising:
an outer ink tank having an ink storage portion, the outer ink tank located outside of the printing portion; an ink supply tube connected to the outer ink tank and the printing portion to supply the ink from the outer ink tank to the printing portion; an outer memory device, electrically coupled to and located outside of the printing portion, the outer memory device electrically coupled to an electrical connector; an attachment having at least one electrode located inside of the printing apparatus; and a cable having two ends, the first end electrically coupled to the electrical connector of the outer memory device and the second end electrically coupled to the electrode on the attachment to permit the flow of data between the outside memory device and the attachment, through the cable.
