CAMERA MODULE AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF

Disclosed are a camera module and a method of controlling the same. The camera module includes: a lens part to receive light with respect to a photograph area; a photograph part to convert the received light to an image signal; a calculating part to calculate a focus value according to the image signal; a scan setting part to set a first scan which detects the focus value in a preset first interval in a first scan section set to a movement range of the lens part and a second scan which detects the focus value in a preset second interval in a second scan section including a step in which a maximum focus value among the focus values detected in the first scan is detected; and a controller to compare a rate of change of the focus value detected in the second scan section to determine an optimal lens position corresponding to the maximum value of the focus value and generate a lens control signal such that the lens part is operated.
