1. An offshore atoll system comprising:
a continuous barrier, the continuous barrier including:
one or more modular sections coupled together, wherein each of the one or more modular sections includes a buoyant upper bulkhead, the buoyant upper bulkhead having at least one concave surface positioned at a sea surface,wherein the continuous barrier is configured to reduce a magnitude of incoming waves on at least one side of the continuous barrier,wherein each of the one or more modular sections further comprises a passive skimming system having a plurality of slots positioned at about a waterline, wherein a liquid is configured to enter the inner chamber of each of the one or more modular sections through the plurality of slots, andan offloading node in fluid communication with at least one inner chamber of each of the one or more modular sections through an outlet, the offloading node configured to remove the liquid from the inner chamber. |
