摘要 An adjustable rod for spinal corrective surgery is provided that includes a first elongate member and a second elongate member, each having rod portions couplable to one or more bone connecting elements and expansion portions slidably moveable with respect to one another. A plurality of holes in each expansion portion are alignable with one another to choose the length of the adjustable rod and a locking element is inserted through a pair of aligned holes to couple the first and second elongate members and secure or fix the length of the expandable rod.

An adjustable rod assembly for correcting or straightening a human spine, the adjustable rod assembly comprising: at least one bone connecting element configured to attach to the rib cage, pelvis or spine of a patient; a first elongate member including a first rod portion configured to couple to one of the bone connecting elements, the first elongate member further including a first expansion portion that is curved and defines a radius of curvature, and the first expansion portion further including a plurality of bore holes in an outer surface of the first elongate member; a second elongate member including a second rod portion configured to couple to one of the bone connecting elements and a second expansion portion slidably moveable with respect to the first expansion portion, the second expansion portion is curved and defines a radius of curvature that is the same as the radius of curvature of the first expansion portion, the second expansion portion further including a plurality of through holes in an outer surface of the second elongate member, wherein the first and second elongate members define a length that extends from the first rod portion to the second rod portion, the length being adjustable; and a locking element including a pin configured to be inserted into at least one of each of the plurality of bore holes and the plurality of through holes to thereby couple the first and second elongate members together and fix the length; wherein the bone connecting element is rotationally adjustable about at least one of the first rod portion and the second rod portion.
