<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for transmitting a configurable pilot in a wireless communication system.SOLUTION: The placement of pilots for transmission is determined on the basis of an assignment of resources. Different placements of pilots are used for different assignments of resources. The assignment is for one or more frames and one or more H-ARQ interlaces. The placement of pilots in each frame or H-ARQ interlace is determined on the basis of the placement of pilots in prior frames or H-ARQ interlaces. Pilots are sent at time and frequency locations determined by the placement of the pilots. Each pilot is sent on one or more subcarriers in one or more symbol periods. The pilots are sent using TDM pilots, IFDMA, LFDMA, EFDMA, OFDMA, or some other multiplexing schemes.</p> |
