PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel near infrared radiation (NIR) absorbing dye which has a squaric acid-perimidine moiety and possesses wax solubility.SOLUTION: A bisperimidine-squaric acid derivative dye compound is represented by the formula 1. (R and R' are each H, Cto Calkyl, or a solubilizing moiety comprising a substituted or unsubstituted Cto Chydrocarbyl group. At least one of R and R' is neither H nor Cto Calkyl. R'' and R''' are each H, a Cto Calkyl group or a halogen; and X is a squaric acid moiety.
