PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a positive electrode active material for nonaqueous secondary batteries which allows a positive electrode resistance value measured in the case of using it for a battery to be reduced; and a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery which is high in capacity and thermally high in safety, and which is arranged by use of such a positive electrode active material and allows a high output to be obtained.SOLUTION: A positive electrode active material for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary batteries comprises: a lithium transition metal complex oxide having a hexagonal crystal structure of a layered structure, and expressed by the general formula (2): LiMWAO(where -0.05≤u≤0.50; x+s+t=1; 0<s≤0.05; 0<s+t≤0.15; M represents a transition metal including at least one element selected from Ni, Co and Mn; A represents at least one additive element selected from transition metal elements except M and W, Group II elements, and Group XIII elements). The positive electrode active material has an average particle diameter of 3-6 μm; [(d-d)/Average particle diameter] which is an index of the expanse of a particle size distribution is 0.60 or less. |
