A combination padlock having a locking assembly, a first housing part 12 and a second housing part 13 movable relative the first housing part when the locking assembly is in an unlocked position, said movement causing the locking assembly to enter a combination setting mode in which the permutation can be reset. The second housing part may be rotated axially away from the first part along axis 19 fig. 1 by a helical thread 92 fig. 8b or twisting by hand, the padlock having stops 25, 26 fig. 5 to limit the rotation. The second housing part may be resiliently biased from the first via a spring 43 fig. 7 and spindle 27 fig. 6. The spindle may be attached to the second housing part and preferably integral. Axial movement of the second housing part and spindle causes clutch fins of the lock assembly to disengage with their corresponding dials, allowing the combination to be reset whilst the spindle is held in position by abutment of formations 25a and 28a fig. 5 and 6. |
