1284598 Two-part couplings H GIRZ and A GIRZ [trading as HERTA GIRZ & CO] 23 Dec 1969 [24 Dec 1968] 62635/69 Heading H2E [Also in Division F1, G1] An electrical connector for a glow plug comprises an insulating core 17 supporting conducting, outwardly biased prongs 3 with end hooks 5 which are actuated by a sleeve 1 surrounding the core and slidably engaging the prongs to grip the glow plug body 4. Electrical connection is made via the prongs through the heater wire 8 to a plug contact pin 9 and hence through a spring loaded contact pin 11 to a constant strip 15 and a switch spring 16. With the switch button 21 in the position shown a short circuit bridge 18 connects the spring 16 to an external lead 20. To test the continuity of the glow plug circuit, the switch button is pressed to break the short circuit and include in series a light bulb 2. In a further embodiment the prongs are pivoted on the sleeve and have inwardly and outwardly extending arms, the slidable core engages the inward arms to effect the gripping mechanism for the outward arms. |
