Polychlorobenzimidazole bactericides for - protecting cellulosic non-textiles

Wood and paper are protected against damage or destruction by bacteria and fungi by treating with compositions consisting of or containing one or more 2-chloro-benzimidazoles having at least 2 C1 substituents in the benzene nucleus. The polychlorobenzimidazoles are stable to air-humidity and light, and can be added to finishes such as paints, varnishes, lacquers or dyes. Their preparation is described in CH 443 777.
