A single lens reflex camera has a partially reflecting mirror 1 movable between a first position (as shown) and a second position to enable a photograph to be taken; a built-in exposure meter having a pivoted photo-sensitive element 12; and a light shielding means associated with the mirror which means, in the position shown, allows light to fall on the element 12, and in the second position of the mirror prevents stray light entering the camera via its view-finder eye-piece E from falling on film being exposed. The light shielding means consists of two relatively slidably apertured plates 2, 5 one of which supports the mirror 1. In the first position, the apertures are aligned, whereas in the second position Fig. 2 (not shown) by virtue of the displayed shaft 11 about which the plate 5 pivots, the apertures in each plate are blocked by opaque areas in the other. In another embodiment Figs. 4, 5 (not shown), a guide member (30) displaces one of the plates relative to the other as they are moved to the second position. |
