In certain embodiments, a method for providing hardware configuration management for one or more heterogeneous computers utilizing a LAN controller with imbedded remote management capabilities technology comprises receiving an initiation request from a LAN controller. A list of FPACL vendors is then obtained from the LAN controller. The LAN controller is configured according to the predetermined requirements of the FPACL vendors. The LAN controller may be configured according to the predetermined requirements of non-FPACL vendors. The list of non-FPACL vendors and the received FPACL vendors along with the corresponding predetermined requirements for proper configuration may be stored on a central server or on a plurality of devices accessible to the central server. Connection to the LAN controller may be through a network. An exemplare LAN controller is an INTEL® AMT device.

1. A method for providing remote hardware configuration management for one or more heterogeneous computers utilizing a LAN controller hardware with imbedded remote management capabilities, the method comprising:
receiving an initiation request from the LAN controller; requesting a list comprising a plurality of Free Partner Access Control List (FPACL) vendors from a LAN controller with imbedded remote management capabilities, each FPACL vendors comprising an Independent Software Vendor (ISV); and for each FPACL vendor of the request list:
determining one or more configuration requirements that are specific to the respective vendor of each requested list; andremotely configuring, by one or more processors, the LAN controller based, at least in part, on at least one of the configuration requirements that are specific to the FPACL vendor of each requested list, wherein the plurality of FPACL vendors, each comprising the ISV, are configured to provide the hardware configuration management for one of the heterogeneous computers.
