PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a user who operates an external device with information for selecting an appropriate remote operation from a plurality of types of remote operations.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: a processing execution unit 61 which executes processing; a first remote control unit 73 which receives a first type remote operation from an external device and controls the processing execution unit 61 to execute processing according to the received first type remote operation; a second remote control unit 57 which receives a second type remote operation from the external device and controls the processing execution unit to execute processing according to the received second type remote operation; a priority order information generation unit 67 which, in response to reception of processing identification information identifying processing from the external device, generates priority order information that attaches priority order to the first type remote operation and the second type remote operation; and a notification unit 69 which notifies a user of the external device of the generated priority order information.
