摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable well protection of an occupant in accordance with a collision mode.SOLUTION: According to a vehicular occupant protection apparatus 10, in a case where a mode of a head-on collision is a symmetric collision, gas G is exhausted each respectively from an external vent hole 28 of a driver-seat airbag 22 and an internal vent hole 30 thereof. This enables quick absorption of inertia energy of the head H of an occupant P, enabling reduction in a load received by the neck of the occupant P. In contrast, in the case of the mode of a head-on collision being an asymmetric collision on the driver-seat side, a driver-side curtain airbag 32 contacts with a forming region of the external vent hole 28 of the driver-seat airbag 22. This limits exhaustion of the gas G from the external vent hole 28. As a result, inner pressure of the driver-seat airbag 22 at an external portion in a vehicle-width direction, the portion for restraining the head H of the occupant P is higher than inner pressure at an internal portion in the vehicle-width direction, and a period of time of restraining the head H by the driver-seat airbag 22 is extended.</p>
