<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can remove foreign substances on a charging roller with simple configuration and control, and thereby maintaining stable chargeability over time and suppressing the occurrence of abnormal images.SOLUTION: There is provided an image forming apparatus that applies a DC voltage to a charging roller 41 during image formation to charge the surface of a photoreceptor 10 at a predetermined polarity and predetermined image formation potential, the image forming apparatus having a cleaning mode of controlling the DC voltage to be applied to the charging roller 41 to form an electric field in a reverse direction to that during the image formation between the charging roller 41 and the photoreceptor, so as to electrostatically remove foreign substances on the charging roller 41.</p> |
