1,218,332. Insulating panels. O. A. BECKER. 19 May, 1969 [22 May, 1968; 21 Sept., 1968; 29 March, 1969], No. 24038/69. Heading E1B. A wall element 3 comprises outer and inner metal or synthetic sheets 3a, 3b sealed together at their margins by an ebonite seal 10 and bolts 11 which also secure the panels to angle brackets 1 of a floor or ceiling 2, and insulation comprising highly reflecting metal foils 7 spaced by honeycomb walls 8a, 8b of insulating material. The foils are supported by insulating plates 9 of feltboard or synthetic foam and by stiffening metal panels 6, a sheet of sounddeadening material 5 being provided between the metal panels. A coating 4 of lacquer or synthetic material 4 is provided on the outer faces of the panels 3a, 3b. The gap between adjacent units is closed by a screw 14 engaging angle brackets 13. The inner sheet metal panels carry further reflecting foils 7, spacing strips 15 and a plaster of paris panel 16. The walls of the honeycombs and all insulating material are impregnated with fire-resistant material. In other embodiments cells are defined by ribbed sheets or strips of foamed plastics material.
