Complementary coupling units (136a, 136b) are mounted at an end of a mobile section (133) of a telescopic arm (103). The displacement units displace a coupling unit (164) in longitudinal translation in two opposite longitudinal directions (F' 1, F'2) when the coupling unit is coupled with the complementary unit in order to move the section between retracted and deployed positions. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Gripping device i.e. bidirectional type gripping device (claimed), for an automated storage and retrieval machine to displace loads in a storage furniture from a box towards a platform. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The displacement units displace the coupling unit coupled with the mobile section of the telescopic arm to move the mobile section between the retracted position and the deployed position positions such that the displacement system is assembled on the frame without embarking elements on the telescopic arm so as to minimize encumbrance of the telescopic arm and ensure a gain in storage capacity.
