The invention relates to the immortalised cell line MU-PH1 derived from a Müller cell culture prepared from adult rat retina, deposited at the German Collection of Microorganisms and Cell Cultures (DSMZ) under number ACC3187, to the method for obtaining the cell line and to the use thereof for evaluating the efficiency of drugs for the treatment of neurodegenerative disease or diseases associated with loss and/or death of photoreceptors inter alia.
