PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retractor illumination system.SOLUTION: There is provided an apparatus for the efficient provision of directed illumination to a subdermal surgical field that is attachable to or completely forms a surgical retractor blade. Multiple blade retractor illuminators of types described herein may be used in a particular surgery in order to provide for different illumination needs. For example, an illuminator designed to provide a higher intensity spot of light may be used with an illuminator designed to provide a more diffuse, wider angle light beam. |
