PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drum-type washing machine that can promptly suppress imbalance which a balancer itself generates in a ball balancer system at the start of rotation of the drum.SOLUTION: The drum-type washing machine includes: a bottomed cylindrical drum 3 that is supported in a freely rotatable manner and has a drum opening 3a through which laundry 13 is inputted; a water tub 2 that accommodates the drum 3; a motor 4 that rotationally drives the drum 3; a first ball balancer 30 that is provided in the vicinity of a peripheral part of a drum end on a drum opening 3a side and has a tubular container 17 inside of which a plurality of freely movable balls 8 are accommodated; a second ball balancer 31 that is provided in the vicinity of a peripheral part of a drum end on a side opposite to the drum opening 3a side and has a tubular container 33 inside of which a plurality of freely movable balls 32 are accommodated; and control means 6 that controls the motor 4. The control means 6 repeats acceleration and deceleration while rotating the drum 3 in a same direction at the start of rotation of the drum 3 to disperse the balls inside a tubular member of at least one of the ball balancers.
