<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface treatment liquid for producing an anti-glare surface of a soda glass substrate, an alkali-free glass substrate or an alumino silicate glass substrate; and to provide a method for producing an anti-glare glass substrate using the surface treatment liquid. <P>SOLUTION: The surface treatment liquid is used for making anti-glare surface of a soda glass substrate, an alkali-free glass substrate or an alumino silicate glass substrate. The surface treatment liquid contains HF and H<SB POS="POST">2</SB>SO<SB POS="POST">4</SB>at a concentration rate surrounded by straight lines represented by following formula (a) to (d): (a) X=0.5; (b) X=12; (c) Y=75; and (d) Y=2X+87; where X is the concentration of HF (wt.%) and Y is the concentration of H<SB POS="POST">2</SB>SO<SB POS="POST">4</SB>(wt.%).
