<p>Provided is an image forming apparatus which reliably detects a width of a roll sheet received therein, and stores the width of the roll sheet thus detected. The image forming apparatus includes: rotatable members for rotatably retaining flanges mounted to both ends of the roll sheet; a roller for rotatably retaining the flanges together with the rotatable members; stages having the rotatable members and racks mounted thereto; a pinion engaging with the racks of the respective stages; a potentiometer which is variable in resistance value in association with rotation of the pinion; an A/D converter which outputs a value based on the resistance value; calculation means for calculating the width of the roll sheet based on the value output from the A/D converter; and a memory for storing the calculated width of the roll sheet. The image forming apparatus forms an image on a roll sheet selected from among roll sheets having various widths, which are received to be selectable in the image forming apparatus.</p> |
