The invention relates to an overcurrent protection device (1), comprising a conductor (10), an evaluating processor unit (4), a temperature sensor (11), wherein - the conductor (10) is formed in such a manner that a current (I) is guided from a source (101) along a defined path (W) in the conductor (10) to a consumer (201) and - the temperature sensor (11) is arranged in relation to the conductor (10) in such a manner that a temperature of the conductor (10) can be measured as a temperature measured value, wherein - the temperature sensor (11) is connected with the evaluating processor unit (4), where the evaluating processor unit (4) is configured to compare the measured temperature value with a temperature limit value stored in the evaluating processor unit (4), wherein the temperature threshold value is selected in such a manner that it represents a distribution prevailing in the conductor (10) of a maximum permissible electric current, wherein a current density resulting from this is evaluated as an overcurrent in the conductor (10), - the evaluating processor unit (4) is furthermore configured such that if the measured temperature value has reached the temperature limit value, a control signal which indicates the overcurrent in the conductor (10) is output via a control output (4a) in the evaluating processor unit (4). |
